Do people you know really get it?
One great thing about networking is meeting lots of new people. Meeting lots of new people means that at least some of those people will really be a lot of fun to "play with". Yes, I said play.
I've been sending more snail mail greeting cards recently because I have noticed that people like them. They notice them more than many emails. One of the cards I send out is in the Motivational section of my online contact manager and it contains the message:
WORK
"This is the real secret of life - to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize it is play."
- Alan Watts
People who make work seem more like play can be very enjoyable to be around. When you're networking and meeting people, some of them are bound to be more enjoyable than others. Would you like to surround yourself with people who are enjoyable to be around? Network and find a way to be around those people you enjoy MORE. If you can't find people like that, people who get it, then either you're not networking enough and meeting enough new people or, IT'S YOU. Let me be clear. IF you're meeting lots of new people and no one seems fun or enjoyable to you, then the challenge [or problem] in the situation is you, not them. I hope it's not you, but help is available! LOL
I found someone who I thoroughly enjoyed on the phone the other day and she really understands networking. We plan on starting teleclasses together to help people really understand how to get a lot of value out of networking. Her name is Carol Deckert and she found me on LinkedIn. She posted on another blog "experiment" of mine. I am asking people to blog on "Build Relationship Build You". Read Carol Deckert's post [and others].
If you're in the USA and you found yourself wondering about how to send a snail mail greeting card through an online contact manager, I can offer you a free sample if you fill out my survey at either:

Hey everyone! Cool site! The customer support seems good and the technology jobs are endless. Maybe I will have a better directmatch searching for human resources
since my keyword "customer care jobs" did not fit as intended.
Glad I found you! Keep on keepin on!
