Public speaker on networking last night in Carlsbad, California
We had a positive, productive meeting last night in Carlsbad. I was the featured speaker for a business networking organization that's much more than a business networking organization. I'll talk more about the organization another time.
There are different ways to say it and so I'll say essentially what I said last night, "My definition of networking is caring enough about another human being to care about what's next on their agenda and seeking to keep that information on your "mental radar screen" so that if you have helpful connections, you can introduce them."
There were people from different career paths and outlooks and networking can help every one of them - as long as they know "what they need next".
If someone wants to network with you, you will need to know who you want to meet for that person to really be helpful to you. For many people this is completely obvious. Some people who have not clearly defined what they are looking for can feel frustrated or "put on the spot", when the person who would like to help them is only trying to clearly define what [which leads to who] to look for.
So, if you're a person with a less than clear idea of where you're going, you need to get clarity for someone to really help you. And, it's faster if you get that clarity before you engage someone's help.
What is it you're looking for? Specifically? Think about it.

since my keyword "customer care jobs" did not fit as intended.
