In order for things to change, you must change
A nice surprise greeted me today at my Toastmasters meeting when a young man walked into our room. Anton Anderson came home from UC Santa Barbara with his Scottish girlfriend. Anton was a member of our local club, Expressions Unlimited, for two years. You will probably hear a lot more from him as he is planning on being a motivational speaker. He's already really, really good.
I did not realize that Anton had let our Toastmaster of the day know that he was available to speak in his first week back from school. Anton gave a magnificent speech on The American Dream. He mentioned that the dream might be different for different people, but basically the "Dream" is about living the life you desire.
Are you living the life you desire? Anton went on to tell us what he learned from a mentor about the big situations in life like who is president and the state of the economy and the world. His mentor told him that the "big situations" are like the wind. We can't change the wind. However, we can sail our boat well in the conditions the wind creates.
Do you know someone who complains about the wind? Do you know others who learn to sail their boat well in whatever conditions they are in?
Anton's mentor told him about Jim Rohn's quote which I have added to the template of this blog. Here it is:
"In order for things to change, you must change."
